I'm not sure why but recently I'm forever having to get out of bed in the middle of the night to answer calls of nature. This wouldn't be so bad but there are no windows in the bedroom so I end up bashing myself against the furniture or standing on my girlfriend's head.
As a result, I decided to install NiceLight on my phone to aid me in my dark quests. The program, for Symbian devices, allows you to transform your handset into a flashlight, utilising the flash on its built-in camera to provide ample illumination.
The program also comes with a 'Display Torch' setting, which flips on the backlight for bedtime reading.
You can also use NiceLight to customise the appearance of your clock at night, making it easier to see what unearthly hour your bladder has woken you up at.
This offers much larger characters than the standard clock meaning that you don't have to squint to see the time.
The app is straightforward to use and there are lots of other options to play around with too.
For instance, there's a helpful broken pixels detector, and a clear battery charge indicator. You'll need this latter feature too, because keeping your phone's light or flash on for an extended period of time can really suck up power.
